BACK IN BUSINESS!

I've stopped updating this blog 9 months ago because I moved my production blog to my main website. However, I feel the need to do some casual blogging and this is gonna be it! I'm turning this space into something where I can share whatever I'm interested in at the moment so expect a lot of gaming, MMA, basketball, and movie related topics with a sprinkling of production stuff as well!

Looking forward to blogging!

OVERVIEW:  To create and develop a retro Pong-style game using Adobe Flash.

BACKGROUND:  Red Bull is looking to make an arcade play ground based around retro games. They are looking for a Red Bull branded game based on the gaming classic, PONG. The product should spark those old feelings that people had when they first played those classic games.

Phase 3. Story, Narrative, and Design Style
Time:  45 mins

Now that I have a collection of ideas to play with, it's time to decide what to do with the assets and what type of product or promotion I should do. I came up with a few possible products/brands/media that I can make a poster for which is the following:

                       1. Mixed Martial Arts/Boxing Pay-Per-View (UFC/WBO)
                       2. High profile sports event (NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB)
                       3. Video Game (Tekken/Primal Fury)
                       4. Television Shows (Animal Face-off/Deadliest Warrior)
                       5. Movies (King Kong/Kung-Fu Panda)
                       6. Toys (Transformers: Beast Machines)

After making my list, I felt that the brand that relates the most with my assets is the television show "Animal Face-off". The premise of this show is to predict who would win in a fight between two different species of animals. They use scientific facts to predict the result, which is shown in a 3D fight simulation. I feel that I can promote this product effectively with my assets.

STORY:
What if the world's most dangerous beasts were to fight each other in the wild? Which predator will emerge victorious in nature's ultimate battle? What would be the world's deadliest encounters would never be possible in nature and the planet's mightiest creatures are never meant to meet...until now. Titans will collide. Strength, speed, and killer instinct will be put to the test. Unstoppable forces will meet immovable objects. In the end, only one will remain standing...

DESIGN:
Above is a style guide that I've set up for my poster and here are a few notes on my choices:
  • I vectorized the "Animal Face-Off" logo because I could not find a good logo of the show. I tried to replicate the logo as best as I could.
  • The colours I've decided on represent the natural colours of greenery, trees, and the earth. I chose these colours to emphasize DIscovery Channel's nature theme. I wanted to stay away from red as I do not want people to think that the show is all about violence as it is highly educational as well.
  • I decided on three fonts to use in my poster;
    • "Haettenschweller" is the font type I used to replicate the logo so I figured I might use it for some of the text on the poster as well.
    • "Chiller" has a raw, wild feel to it which I thought would fit very well with the topic at hand.
    • "Futura" is the font I felt most closely resembled the Discovery Channel logo and so I thought I might need it for the design.
